Today we received a mail from our friends over at IROCKE. It’s always great to read that kind of mail first thing in the morning. The mail said the following: «Congratulations! Livebeats has been ranked No. 12 on the IROCKE Top 50 Global Live Streaming Source List of 2012.»

This is really great news and we are very proud to be part of this list and to get such a good ranking. Some big names are behind us. But see for yourself, this is the entire list.

The prestigious Streaming Media European Readers’ Choice Awards were announced at Straming Media Europe in London last month. livebeats was a finalist in the category Best Live Webcast, nominated for its live stream of the Titanic Requiem, which had its world premiere back in April, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Central Hall Westminster in London. livebeats produced the event in full HD and streamed it live to a worldwide audience.

In the opinion of the Streaming Media readers, this had been the second best live webcast of the year. We are very honored and proud to have achieved such a good result and would like to thank all those who have voted for us.

If you are in the music industry or you have an interest in the new music business you cannot avoid Hypebot.com, the top rated industry blog. Getting a mention on Hypebot, therefore, feels like a knightly accolade. Yesterday it was livebeats turn and we are really excited about this. Hypebot reported about the Cntrl: Beyond EDM tour and the cancelled Buffalo show, which lead to the #BeyondSandy live stream from a hotel room of the Richie Hawtin entourage. The Cntrl: Beyond EDM bus tour took off yesterday and saw its first stop in Buffalo, NY. The music and technology panel at SUNY was staged in the afternoon as scheduled. The party in the evening, though, had to be cancelled for one fairly convincing reason: hurricane Sandy was on the approach. It was also due to Sandy that the live stream of the daily briefing from the bus yesterday as well as today had to be cancelled. There was simply not enough upload capacity, as the networks reached their limits.

It is not without reason that Richie Hawtin is said to be one of the most innovative and creative minds of his guild. Sandy may have prevented him, Loco Dice and Paco Osuna to play at the Club that night, but the storm sure did not prevent them and their entourage to have fun. Since they could not leave their hotel, they simply turned their hotel room into the «club» and streamed their improvised show from there on livebeats. Looks like it was good fun :-)

It was also a huge success, may we add. Thousends of fans all over the world tuned in to watch the hotel bash. Let’s hope that the rest of the tour can be kept Sandy-free.

Yes, we are in the bragging mood, and we hope you can forgive us, but there is just too much good stuff happening these days. Last night we received a mail from sunny California, from Hermosa Beach to be precise.

Our team has spent the past year evaluating and curating over 1,000 live stream concert sources from around the world. You were selected based on superior production quality, entertainment value, stream quality, audience engagement, and other criteria.»

Is this cool or is this cool? We for sure are excited about this nomination. IROCKE is a really cool service that launched its Beta version only last month. The announcement came with an invitation to attend a private event at IROCKE’s headquarter in Hermosa Beach on 10 November.

There are worse places to attend corporate events, aren’t there? Not sure, though, whether we will make it. But definitely sure that being on the IROCKE list and getting the opportunity to showcase livebeats at this event could prove a tremendous asset, given that they expect representatives from the Wall Street Journal, Wired Magazine, Red Bull USA, AT&T, Universal Music Group or AEG to name but a few.

Ok, it’s been a while, we know. But we didn’t forget about you. No, we were busy doing all sorts of things. You may recall that the live stream of the Guns N’ Roses gig back in May in London was cancelled at the last minute. Nevertheless, we filmed the show at the time and promised that we would show it at a later date. We are getting there. A few final touches and the show can start. It will be made available as video on demand on the Internet and it will be released in movie theaters all over the world. The waiting was worthwhile, trust us.

What else happened? Lovers of electronic music may have noticed that one of the most innovative players of the scene has chosen livebeats.com as its streaming platform: Richie Hawtin. We are extremely pleased and honored to welcome such an acclaimed artist to our service. For a period of twelve weeks during this summer, Richie Hawtin streamed his ENTER.Sake series from the famous Space club in Ibiza. And this was only the beginning of a promising partnership with Richie Hawtin and his label M-NUS.

From October 29 until November 18, 2012 Hawtin will be engaged with CNTRL: BEYOND EDM – ELECTRONIC & TECHNO(LOGY) BASED MUSIC, a groundbreaking North American college tour combining educational daytime lectures on music technology in some of the leading universities and colleges, followed by an evening of electronic music with Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, Ean Golden from DJ TechTools and their touring guest DJ’s. Every day of this tour Richie Hawtin will send a short live stream from his tour bus to the world, consisting of interviews and interesting background information on the tour, followed by a one hour live stream from the club session in the evening. We are very excited about this partnership.

And we have more great things to report. On September 5 we streamed a short showcase by the Pet Sop Boys to celebrate the release of their latest album. We were not the only platform to stream this event live, but organisers Electronic Beats were so pleased with the quality, the functionalities of our player and the service provided that they decided to choose livebeats as their streaming partner for future events. And the future is bright. Tomorrow, October 23, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. CET we will stream the Paris press conference of the band Depeche Mode who want to make a special announcement.

And this Friday, October 26, we will bring you the Electronic Beats Festival Zagreb with Hot Chip and Modelselektor.

After the announcement of the cinema cast live to cinemas across Europe earlier this month, the bands were inundated with fan inquiries from all over the world, all wondering why the show could not be brought to a theater in their city.
